Recreation MSc

  • Duration of training: Full-time, 2 years/ 4 semesters (120 Credits)

Description of the program:

The aim of the training is to educate recreation management professionals who are capable to positively influence the society’s lifestyle through the development of an active, health-oriented leisure culture. They, thereby, effectively contribute to life-quality improvement of various target groups and individuals. Furthermore, they are able to take on leadership, managerial, and advisory roles and tasks in sports organizations, particularly in leisure sports, as well as in recreation and health promotion, in healthcare, social, educational institutions, and civil organizations. Graduates of the program are prepared to continue their studies in doctoral programs.

Admission requirements:

  • High motivation towards a healthy lifestyle and valuable recreation
  • Demonstrated evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency. Certified B2 intermediate English knowledge, see the acceptable certificates here: Language requirements
  • CV in English
  • BSc degree, suitable for recreation (Physical Training BSc, Sport Science BSc, Physiotherapy BSc etc.)
  • Transcript of BSc studies (and their certified English translation)
  • Motivation letter (introduction plus field of interest, etc.) from 3000 to 3500 characters
  • Medical certificate, along with laboratory test results of Hep B, Hep C, HIV and chest X-ray

Online, oral entrance exam is obligatory for admission, example questions are the following:

Why is recreation important in universal culture regarding a healthy lifestyle?
Which fields/subjects did you study for your bachelor's degree?
At which university did you get your degree? And when did you get it?
What was the topic of your BSc thesis?
What grade did you get for your Thesis defense?
What are your future career plans after graduating from UP?

  • Diagnosis and therapy of the skeletal and muscle system's deformities, applied rehabilitation

3rd semester

  • Exercise physiology
  • Research in recreation
  • Physical activity of special population
  • Physiotherapy
  • Recreational therapy (animal-assisted and dance therapy)

4th semester

  • Dietetics, sports nutrition

  • Thesis consultation II

You can continue your studies in the various doctoral schools of the University of Pécs, such as the Doctoral School of Biology and Sport Biology.

Graduates from our institution have a good chance of finding employment in private and publicly funded service providers within recreational, tourism, health tourism, sports, social recreation, and healthcare systems.
