Prof. Maria Miguéns Pereira is a professor at the University of Coimbra (Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal) and an internationally recognized researcher of metalloporphyrins and transition metal-catalyzed homogeneous catalytic reactions. In recent years, Professor Pereira's interest - in addition to the long-successful medicinal use of metalloporphyrins - has increasingly focused on the synthesis of chiral ligands and catalyst development. In these research fields, his scientific interest met that of the Selective Chemical Syntheses Research Group led by Prof. László Kollár of the Institute of Chemistry of PTE TTK. Numerous scientific publications, PhD and diploma theses are the results of the cooperation between the two research groups.
